Margot Robbie: From Circus School to Barbie Movie Stardom

Lights dimmed, and the big screen came alive with dazzling colors as I sat back and watched the enchanting world of Barbie unfold before my eyes. The lead actress, Margot Robbie, portrayed Barbie so perfectly that I couldn't help but wonder about the life of this talented and captivating actress who made Barbie come to life. Little did I know that Margot Robbie's journey to stardom was as fascinating and inspiring as the iconic roles she portrayed.

Hailing from Queensland, Australia, Margot Robbie, at the age of 33, is a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. But her path to success wasn't an easy one. She was born Margot Elise Robbie, to a family with a farming and sugarcane background, boasting a father who was a tycoon in the industry and a mother who worked as a physiotherapist. Unfortunately, her parents' marriage ended, and her mother had to raise her alone, leading to financial struggles for a time.

Despite the challenges, Margot's mother recognized her daughter's exceptional talents and boundless energy. At just 8 years old, Margot was enrolled in a circus school where she learned the art of trapeze. This early exposure to performing arts set the stage for her future endeavors.

As a teenager, Margot had to take on three jobs to support herself and her aspirations. She worked as a bartender, and a house cleaner, and even took up a position at Subway. Determined to carve a path in the world of entertainment, she audaciously tried her hand at commercials and thriller films, eventually landing her first acting role in a low-budget thriller that brought her immense joy.

Her star continued to rise as she became part of the children's TV series "The Elephant Princess," where she starred alongside Liam Hemsworth. This opened the doors to a long-running role in the popular soap opera "Neighbors," earning her nominations and recognition for her acting prowess.

In 2013, the pivotal moment of her career arrived when she made her film debut in "About Time," alongside Rachel McAdams. The movie's success bolstered her standing in the industry and led her to an incredible opportunity to work with none other than Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Wolf of Wall Street." A daring move during her audition, where she playfully slapped DiCaprio, showcased her improvisational skills and won her the role. The film's success catapulted her to stardom but also brought unexpected challenges.

The overwhelming success of "The Wolf of Wall Street" almost pushed Margot to quit Hollywood, but her mother and friends rallied behind her, providing the support and encouragement she needed to persevere. And persevere she did, starring in a series of blockbuster films that solidified her position as one of Hollywood's A-listers.

One of the most iconic roles she took on was Harley Quinn in "Suicide Squad." To prepare for the physically demanding role, Margot underwent intensive training in gymnastics, boxing, and aerial silks, fully immersing herself in the character and winning accolades for her portrayal.

But the crowning achievement of her career came with the highly anticipated Barbie movie. Originally planned in 2009, the project faced numerous changes in writers and directors before finally finding its footing. Initially considered for the role were Anne Hathaway and Amy Schumer, but it was Margot Robbie's passion and assurance that the film would be a massive success that convinced Mattel. The script was reimagined to highlight themes of feminism and featured a matrix-like concept, tailor-made for Margot's exceptional talents.

To secure her place as Barbie, Margot Robbie was paid a staggering $12.5 million, solidifying her status as one of the highest-paid actors in 2022.

Margot Robbie's journey from circus school to Hollywood stardom is a testament to her determination, resilience, and unrivaled talent. With a string of blockbuster hits and iconic roles under her belt, she continues to be a trailblazer in the industry, captivating audiences worldwide. As the credits rolled on the Barbie movie, I couldn't help but marvel at the amazing transformation of a young girl from Queensland into the embodiment of one of the world's most beloved dolls, leaving an indelible mark on Hollywood's silver screen.

When my father came back in Philippines from working abroad, he brought set of encyclopedias for me to read.  It was then the first time that I read about paintings of the old masters (e.g. Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh and others) which gave me my

MAY 22 TIU theater is an artist hub located in Makati, and I was given the chance to watch Bakata: The Battle of Street Poets, a play produced by  Toshihiko Uriu  -   The play was a huge success and is predicted to turn into a Philippine classic, but I am writing this article right now to highlight another story that occurred inside the TIU theater.  A collaboration piece that helped produce the effect of the wonder called Bakata. I noticed the glow of the lanterns and the paper cranes highlighted in the stage design, it had the flair and flamboyant but subtle effect that was needed in order to make the stage look just perfect for the story line.  Leo R Natividad is the President and Owner of Origami Pilipinas.  I was fortunate to meet members like  L.
