Filipinos are naturally creative, it is normal for us to have family members who know how to sing and dance.
Creativity is something that is embedded in the blood of Filipinos, we produce world class performers every year and there is bound to be more.
However, it does not mean that not everyone has the privilege of taking their skills to the next level.
The idea of performing and singing in front of an audience and providing quality music is different.
In order to be a really good musician, you need to be willing to learn.
A lot of Filipinos want to become better musicians and earn well while doing it, but there is very little opportunity provided.
Voice lessons, guitar lessons, drum lessons and other types of instruments would take some time in order to master, not to mention the fact that it is costly.
Only a few really get to develop their talents and skills because lessons are expensive and only a few parents encourage children to continue their musical career thinking that being a musician will get them nowhere.
An idea was formulated-- creativity is achieved through hardship- people who are tested by time and circumstances have more drive to prove themselves.
Creative Image Foundation that was founded by Toshihiko Uriu has been consistent in providing free music lessons for the children of Payatas and Smokey Mountain and it has recently partnered with Microphone Mechanics.
Microphone Mechanics is a Beatbox Acapella group in the Philippines and is also a member of the Philippine Human Beatbox Alliance.
They are the first official Beatbox group in the Philippines to have released their album in the country.
Free Beatbox Lessons are being provided by Microphone Mechanics for Smokey and Payatas children under Creative Image Foundation at TIU theater.

Beatboxing can make a person become a better musician, children who are under the program gain better singing technique.
Beatboxing is more of an acapella style of music making via vocal percussion, it will teach a person to have better sense of timing and rhythm.
The listening skills of a person is improved, and it is also a good method to protect a person's vocal cord.
A person who learns beatbox has an immediate craft that they could be proud of and appreciate.
Beatboxing is not something you can learn from a musical score sheet.
You need to be able to learn how to listen and repeat in copy cat style, while training the mind to be able to listen and repeat in copy cat style.
There is a need to train your mind in order to get used to the way the sounds can work together.
The main goal is to improvise using the sounds so that you will no longer need to use an actual instrument just to produce the sound.
Your mouth becomes the automatic source of music.
Children who are exposed at Beatbox lessons can learn when they try their hand at beatboxing.
